This is what precipitated our latest and most surprising change in plans to leave Thailand and ship Destiny to the Med instead of sticking around here for another cruising season and then shipping the boat next March:
- the heat here is killing us!
- crime is on the rise and the local fishermen and long tail "tourist" boats are starting to break into yachts. This has never been a problem here until this year and we think it is because so many yachts are stuck here because of the piracy in the Indian Ocean, etc., AND Russians are flooding in here by the plane load. It is crawling with Russian Mafia and prostitution and drugs.
- cruising season is technically closed until the end of Oct. so we have to sit in a marina somewhere until then.
- We have to keep traveling back and forth to Malaysia or somewhere because of the visa requirements.
- Barb's parents are not doing well and we are so far away from home we feel we should at least try to get closer in case we need to make an emergency trip home.
- the last shipment to the Med is this month and they have room for us.
Ha ha that is just the tip of the iceberg.
So - if we can get it together in time to get on this shipment then we are sure going to try.
We will keep you posted - and yes we would love for friends and loved ones to come to the Med.

We will be returning to our boat in Gocek in early July. Would dearly love to meet up with you and Barbara (as well as Jamie and Christine if they are with you then)! We hope to quickly sail Aegean and then up to Croatia for a few weeks; then to Italy for next winter. Please, please do stay in touch!
